Maasai, Monduli Mountains

Just a few hours drive from Arusha, the Monduli Mountains make a lovely day trip or can be part of a longer hiking itinerary.

Along the slopes Maasai pastoralists herd their cattle and cultural touris programmes give visitors the opportunity to learn about traditional medicines and local Maasai culture.

The surrounding views of the Rift Valley, Mt. Meru and Mount Kilimanjaro are just incredible.

An excursion to Monduli Mountains starts with an afternoon drive to the area to join the Maasai on bbq dinner around the fire sharing your life-stories. Next day our trek will pass over beautiful escarpments where we will have the opportunity on our way to visit a boma, a school or a traditional medicine man. This excursion can be extended to one more overnight with a second day of trekking so to have more time to enjoy and connect with the life of this tribe.
