Tour Day by Day

Day 1: Arusha
Meet upon arrival in Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) and transfer to hotel in Arusha. 


Day 2: Tarangire National Park
After breakfast, we drive by 4×4 vehicle to Tarangire. Full day game drive with a break for picnic lunch. The distinguished features of this park are the giant baobab trees, the large population of elephants and the big cats. At the afternoon we proceed to Mto Wa Mbu village for dinner and overnight at the lodge or campsite.

Day 3: Lake Manyara National Park

Early wake up call. Today we start our activities early approx. at 6h30 am. We meet our local guide at the village and go for a bicycle ride at Lake Manyara. The trail is leading to the shores of Lake Manyara, and then we follow the shoreline. We bike besides flocks of flamingoes and pelicans. Herbs of wildebeests, zebras and giraffes usually are grazing around the plains of the lake. We return to the lodge/camp for lunch and rest. At the afternoon we board on our 4×4 safari vehicle and go for a sunset wildlife game drive at the national park of Lake Manyara. We return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Lake Manyara National Park – Lake Natron

After breakfast we proceed to Lake Natron. We reach the gate at Natron and proceed towards the lake, home of millions of lesser flamingos. Enjoy the ride within the gorges of a small river for a couple of minutes. After exploring the Orpul then take a short bike ride down to the lake shore for a bird watching experience. Enjoy the lake scenery and proceed with a ride to the petrified historic footprints of our ancestors (120.000 years old). 

We ride to the tented camp where the tour ends. Hot lunch will be served upon arrival. Afternoon at leisure. (Optional we go for a walk to the Munge waterfalls -optional swimming). Early dinner and rest.
Note: For experienced cyclists it is possible to cycle all the route from lake Manyara to Lake Natron.

Day 5: Lake Natron – Serengeti
(OPTIONAL) At midnight, we drive to the base of the Oldonyo Lengai Mountain (Mt. of God) and start climbing to reach the crater summit in time for enjoying the sunrise. The slopes up to the top are quiet steep. The climbing takes roughly 10 hours up and down. The descend will be around 10:00am for brunch. After few free hours relaxing at the camp, we board on our 4×4 vehicle to proceed with en-route game drive to the famous plains of Serengeti through Klein’s gate. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 6: Serengeti – Lake Victoria
After breakfast we proceed with enroute game drive through Lobo Serengeti to Lake Victoria, Speke Bay. On our way, after the gate, we visit the villages of the Sakuma tribe famous for growing cotton, grounding nuts, sorghum and cassava as well as keeping livestock. Dinner and overnight at the lodge/camp.

Day 7: Lake Victoria
In the morning we organize a fishing trip at the lake. We return to the lodge for lunch, we can even ask the cook to prepare us the catch of the day! At the afternoon you enjoy another great bike tour. Venture out into the heart of Sukumaland by mountain bike. In the Masamba Hills the only means of transportation is a bicycle. That is why there are numerous small tracks and no cars. 

It gives a good picture of what most of Tanzania still looks like ‘off the beaten track’. The guided trip takes about four hours and is best taken in the (late) afternoon. The effort it takes depends on your fitness and how frequent you want to rest. It is meant to be a leisurely trip, to experience Africa from a bicycle: the smells, the wind, the landscape and the people. 

Towards the evening it gets cooler (the altitude is around 1200-meters/4000 ft above sea level), farmers work on their shamba’s while singing, women in their colourful kangas come home from markets, shepherds bring their cattle back from grazing, people wave and children smile and greet you.
We return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Lake Victoria – Serengeti
After breakfast equipped with lunch boxes we proceed for game drive at the center of Serengeti in search of the “big five”. Dinner and overnight at the camp/lodge.

Day 9: Serengeti
Full day game drive exploring the plains of Serengeti. We will follow the trail of the famous migration of millions of wildebeests and zebras and your guide will track the best locations with the highest concentration and variety of animals and actions of the day. Dinner and overnight at the camp/lodge.

Day 10: Serengeti – Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Sunrise game drive, searching for big Cats while hunting, they actively hunt during early morning. Then we proceed with en route game drive to Ngorongoro. Dinner and overnight at the lodge/camp at the rim of the crater

Day 11: Ngorongoro Highlands
After breakfast hike up to the rim of the Olmoti Crater and visit the spectacular Munge waterfalls. Continue to Embulmbul depression following the cattle trails through forests and grasslands. The depression is a level hollow ground, with short grass where animals like buffalos, zebras and gazelles graze. We board in our vehicle and drive to Empakai Crater. 

Then we descend on foot into the crater floor covered with dense equatorial forests, grass and a volcanic lake. Buffaloes, reedbucks and different species of birds can be seen close to the lake. On our way back optional we visit the Maasai Bulati village. We drive back to the lodge/camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 12: Ngorongoro Crater – Lake Eyasi
After early breakfast drive down to the crater floor for full day game drive. The crater is shelter to more than 25000 animals, including the extinguishing black rhino. At the afternoon we proceed to Lake Eyasi. Dinner and overnight at the tented camp/camp.

Day 13: Lake Eyasi
At sunrise we will meet with our local guide to search for the bushmen and go hunting with them. Our guide is very experienced and will interpret what we will get to see. You will witness how the Hadjabe get ready for hunting (daily activity to feed their families) watching them preparing arrows using poison. Then we’ll take off all together for a hunt. We return to the establishment. 

They will show us around where the Hadzabe live – they use caves as a home. We’ll see how they make fire, typed of trees are suitable for what purpose, where they collect honey and teach us how they cure diseases preparing medicines of nature’s gifts. We drive to the camp for lunch and rest. At the afternoon we visit the Datoga tribe, The Datoga are mostly pastoralists and are used to biological food. 

They move from place to place to find good pastures for their animals. We visit the Datoga Blacksmith. He makes jewelry as well as weapons using a local method to melt iron. We’ll watch him making weapons – the Datoga use arrows, spears and knives. Dinner and overnight at the tented camp/camp.

Day 14: Lake Eyasi – Arusha
After breakfast we drive back to Arusha. Leisure hours at the lodge.
