International Flights
British Airways fly three times a week direct from London to Dar es Salaam with a total flying time of 9 hours 40 minutes; KLM Royal Dutch Airlines (from Amsterdam) to Dar es Salaam and Kilimanjaro; Turkish Airline 
(from Istanbul) to Dar es Salaam and Kilimanjaro; Qatar Airways (from Europe via Doha) to Dar es Salaam and Kilimanjaro; Swiss Air (from Zurich) to Dar es Salaam; Gulf Air serves Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar via Muscat or Abu Dhabi; Emirates serves Dar es Salaam and Nairobi via Dubai. Tanzania can also be reached via African gatewas served by Air Zimbabwe, Egypt Air, Ethiopian Airlines, Kenya Airways and South African Airways.


International Airports
International flights serve Dar es Salaam,
 eight miles from the city center Kilimanjaro 31 miles from Arusha and Zanzibar, 5 miles from Stone Town.

Passport/Visa
Most visitors require visas. Mostly they can be obtained on arrival at international airports and at the Mananga Gate on the Tanzania/Kenya border. Requirements may change so please contact the authority .

Currency
The unit of currency is the Tanzanian Shilling, which is divided into 100 cents. Visitors can take any amount of foreign currency, no currency declaration is required, but import and export of Tanzanian currency is illegal. Most major currensies like Euro and particularly US Dollars and travellers cheques are accepted and convertible at banks and bureau de change in the main towns and tourist areas. Credit cards, mainly Visa and Mastercar, are generally only accepted in larger establishments. US Dollars must be issued after 2000 (please have in mind that previous issued notes will not be accepted in Tanzania). Exchange currency can be done in Dar es Salaam, Arusha & Zanzibar and other major cities. Banking facilities in remote areas are restricted, so cash is useful.
