PROJECT SUMMARY
Even
though, English is a language of daily uses, good English education is
a dream for many kids. Many public schools (or even private school
running in rural areas) are looking for qualified English teachers
especially the native English speakers. Being one of the popular
tourist destinations, knowledge of good English can open many doors for
students. Therefore, your help will be appreciated. In theTanzania
teaching English project, you will teach English to nursery, primary
and secondary school kids between the age group of 6-16.
Skill/Qualification
There
is no specific qualification needed to join the teaching English
project in Tanzania . However, volunteers are expected to be fluent in
English. Teaching experience will be helpful (but not required) .
ROLE OF VOLUNTEERS
Volunteers
will primarily work as English instructor either in private schools or
public school or schools run by orphanages. You will mostly teach
English 2-3 hours a day (six days a week) in primary, secondary, and
high school. You will also help kids by organizing games, drawing,
singing, dancing, and other creative education and extra curricular
activities. Some help in administration is also expected. You mostly
work as a assistant to the main English teacher. In Tanzania , each
school has at least one English teacher.
SCHOOL HOLIDAYS
Mostly
Tanzanian schools are closed during the end of the semesters, mid terms
evaluations, new enrolment and the public and national holidays.
• June 15th - July 27 th (End of first semester and start of second semester)
• Sep 19th - Oct 10 th (Mid term evaluation)
• Dec 15th - Jan 1 st - (New enrolment)
