Spend two days in a bush village
Day 1 ARUSHA . TAVETA . LAKE CHALA
In the morning we'll pick you up at your hotel in Arusha and depart for Taveta via Holili (Kenyan border). Taveta is a busy place and an important market place for the region. We'll visit the market and have lunch there. In the afternoon we will go to Lake Chala, a volcanic crater lake close to Mt. Kilimanjaro and the Pare Mountains. The landscape is beautiful and relaxing, there are many exotic birds to watch. Later in the afternoon we will arrive in Ngutini.
For dinner and overnight there are two options. You can either stay in Savanna Dream Lodge, or in Ngutini - in a room prepared for you in a local house. According to your choice you'll either eat at the lodge or have a family dinner in the village.
Day 2 Ngutini . Lake Jipe . Arusha
We will have breakfast together in the village and then learn how locals brush their teeth - a piece of Mswaki tree serves as a toothbrush. We'll visit the shamba (field, garden) and see how the palm-wine tapper Moses gets the palm-wine from the palmtree. We will visit the traditional healer Nzimbili who will show us what kind of local plants and substances he uses to prepare medicines. Towards the evening we will return to Arusha.
