Zebras in Arusha National Park

 ARUSHA NATIONAL PARK

This is where the famous Film Hatari with Hardy Krüger was shot. The park is a treasure, a rich tapestry of habitats, teeming with animals and birds.
Black-and white colobus monkey
This colobus monkey is a rare species and can be viewed only in this park. Arusha national park is very interesting and varied. There are the lush swamps at Ngurdoto Crater, the tranquil beauty of the Momela Lakes and the rocky alpine heights of Mount Meru. Bird lovers will be thrilled - more than four hundred species of birds both migrant and resident can be found here.
Climb up Mount Meru
You will pass through forests of dripping Spanish moss, carpeted with clover and rising to open heath, spiked with giant lobelia plants. Delicate klipspringer antelopes will watch you from the top of huge boulders. Once astride the craggy summit, the reward is a perfect view - including the sight of Mt. Kilimanjaro, breathtaking in the sunrise.
Best time to visit
The best time to visit the park is during the dry season from July to November or after the short rains from December to March. The park lies just 25km east of Arusha and is fantastic for a day trip.
